Protek ESP Panel Edge Sealant Protection is designed and proven to prevent water ingress to the edges of plywood and all other sheet materials to stop de-lamination. This eco-friendly, non-toxic, odourless paint will extend the life of your panels by creating a watertight seal.Protecting against water damage, the seal applies in a red colour and fades from light to dark as it dries, making the users life easier. Ideal for external use and high-humidity areas, ESP is proven to make plywood last longer. How to apply The plywood edge sealant is applied to the bare edges (including freshly cut edges) of the plywood boards. A thick layer is painted down the edge with a 5mm overlap onto the flat surface. Ensure that any holes or air pockets are completely covered. This can be done by working the sealant along the edge, back and forth with a paintbrush.For best results use a woodwork stain and varnish brush for an even finish. 1 litre of ESP will seal the edges of 21 sheets of 18mm plywood if they are 2.44 x 1.22m. It is specially formulated to penetrate the veneers of plywood, so not only forms a film, but actually penetrates the timber that the plywood is made of, preventing the penetration of water and moisture to the inner leaves of the plywood. Also suitable for use with OSB, MDF and Sterling Board.
